C-Suite Reshuffle At Nomura

Koji Nagai, the chief executive of , the Japanese banking group, has been made chairman of the board of directors, while group co-chief operating officer Kentaro Okuda is taking on the CEO slot, as well as that of president.

Okuda has been at Nomura since 1987. Before his most recent position, he was CEO of Nomura Holding Americas.

He obtained an MBA from the Wharton School in the US and graduated with a BA in economics from Keio University in Japan. 

In April this year, Nomura won regulatory clearance to set up a securities joint venture in China, focusing initially on the wealth management sector. The new company is starting out by serving high net worth individuals in China. Later, Nomura intends to distribute products into wholesale and other channels, ultimately leading to a “full-fledged” brokerage.
